being-studentThe difference between the studying at the university and high school is not very big at first sight. You should also hand in your work on time and prepare for the exams carefully. Besides, to become a successful student you’ll need to study at least 40 hours a week and make the most of attending Learning Centers, libraries, laboratories etc.

During the first week you will be busy as you will have to choose disciplines, familiarize yourself with campus and meet your lecturers, instructors and fellow students. At the same time you’ll get a chance to participate in many entertainments and activities which take place often that time.

It doesn’t matter which university you are going to enter, you should be ready to face with a huge range of teaching methods and techniques. They won’t let you get bored at lectures, seminars, while fulfilling home assignments.

Let’s define main terms used for describing studying process at university or college:

- Lectures – a kind of lessons delivered by a member of academic staff or specially invited guest – expert. It presents information, news, notions from different viewpoints. Students usually get the opportunity to ask questions, enter into discussions.

- Seminars are held in a little groups, consists of students introductions of a given topics and their private researches.

- Teamwork – work in small groups on some common tasks. Team activities provide valuable experience of communication and cooperation.

- Project and Practical works. Project work helps to gain a practical experience. It may also demand visiting different organizations to watch the real conditions at the workplace. Project-based field work is especially necessary for students in engineering area, medicine, social sciences. Practical work enables to develop and practice theoretical skills. It consists of experiences and tests.
